Welcome to The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery

The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery was established in June 2006.  Rachael Campbell and Pam Barr are the joint owners, who have a culmination of teaching experience in a Montessori environment both nationally and internationally.  The International environment encourages multilingual children and nationalities. 

The Montessori prepared environment is a key factor in a multicultural society and that of which we embrace.  The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery was accredited by the Montessori Examination & Approval Board in November 2009.

All the staff are fully qualified, or working towards their SVQIII and there is a continual professional development in all relevant Early Years Training. 

Our two units are housed within a walled garden.  Both units have open access to the garden.

We are committed to providing a Montessori Pre-School environment and also supporting the Curriculum of Excellence.

Our Baby and Toddler Rooms are based on the Montessori Philosophy and the intrinsic need for the Infant to form a relationship with their carer.

The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery is an Accredited Montessori School.

Location:

The Nursery is located at 98 Lasswade Road (opposite Liberton Hospital). This is on one of the main routes heading towards Edinburgh city centre from the South. There is ample parking space within the grounds and a very good bus service to and from town.

The Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm

Full Day Session: 8.00 am to 5.45 pm

Morning Session: 8.00 am to 1.00pm

Afternoon Session: 1.00pm to 5.45 pm

Fixed Holidays: closed between Christmas and New Year plus 2 in-service days - to be confirmed

Maximum Number of children: 59

The Garden

The children have access to the garden throughout the year.  We encourage outdoor play and learning as much as possible.  We have created an outdoor decking classroom area for the Pre-School Room.  We have a large nest swing and wooden climbing frame and slide for the children.  There is a wendy house corner.  Children can also ride bikes and trikes, plant in the garden, and be involved in our recycling projects.  

The Nursery

The nursery provides breakfast, cooked meals and snacks freshly prepared every day, on site by our chef. The menus have been developed with the help from a fully qualified nutritionist, whom worked directly with the chef.
